An easy peasy bread recipe that will amaze your friends!
It pairs really well with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It also pairs really well with bruschetta and roasted prosciutto.
Recipe
Ingredients:
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil ( I used the Herbs de Provence extra virgin olive oil from Trader Joes)
2 garlic gloves, minced
1 T chopped thyme (the fresher the better)
1 T chopped rosemary
1/4 t fresh ground black pepper
1 cup (235 ml) warm water
2 1/4 t active dry yeast (1 packet)
1/4 t honey
2 1/2 cups (315 grams) all-purpose flour
1/2 t fine sea salt

DOUGH:
First off wash your hands and your work space!
In a bowl combine olive oil, minced garlic, thyme, rosemary, and the black pepper. Set aside. (You can add other seasonings if you 'd like).
In a large bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and honey. Stir a few times then let it sit for about 5-6 minutes.
Add 1 cup of flour and 1/4c of the garlic-olive oil mixture to the bowl with the yeast and honey. Stir 4-5 times or until the flour has moistened. Let it sit for another 5 minutes.
Stir in the remaining 1 1/2 cups of flour and the salt. When the dough comes together, transfer to a floured surface (preferably a wooden board), and knead 10 to 15 times until smooth.
Transfer the dough to a large oiled bowl, cover with a warm, damp towel and let it rise for about 45 min.
BAKE:
After 45 minutes, heat the oven to 450 degrees Farenheit.
Use 2T of the remaining garlic olive oil mixture to oil a 9-inch by 13- inch rimmed baking sheet.
Transfer the dough to the baking sheet and press it down in the pan.
Use your fingers to dimple the dough then drizzle the top with the remaining 2t of the garlic olive oil mixture. let the dough rise for 10 minutes until it puffs slightly.
Bake until golden brown 21-23 minutes.
Then enjoy!!
